Volandri seeks for semifinals in Napoli

Local player Filippo Volandri beat countryman Gianluca Naso, 7/5 4/6 6/1, after 1h54, to book a place in quarterfinals of ATP Challenger €42,500 +H of Napoli, in Italy on Thursday.

Currently World No. 212, Volandri, next faces Jozef Kovalik of Slovakia, No. 171, looking for a place in semifinals. The 34-year-old Italian is former Top 25 and has two ATP trophies (St Poelten and Palermo).

Belgium Arthur de Greef beat first seed Filip Krajinovic, of Serbia, 6-4 7-5, and now faces in quarterfinals Spanish Roberto Carballes Baena, fifth seed. Italian wild card Salvatore Caruso beat Mirza Basic, 6-4 6-7 (6) 6-2 and meets Romanian Marius Copil. Portuguese Gastão Elias, sixth seed, overcame Italian Stefano Napolitano, 7-5 6-2, to set up a clash with Uladzimir Ignatik of Belarus.
