On Tuesday Czech and former World No. 7 Nicole Vaidisova beat Sesil Karatantcheva of Kazakhstan, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of an ITF event in Albuquerque, New Mexico in her return to the professional circuit after more than four and a half years.

The Czech received a wildcard to play the ColemanVision Tennis Championships, which is a $75,000 ITF Women's Circuit event held on outdoor hardcourts.

Vaidisova talked about how her first match back felt like. "Surreal, nerve-wracking!" she said. "I am so glad I got to play."

Vaidisova broke into the world's Top 10 as a 17-year-old in 2006 and achieved six WTA titles and reached semifinals the 2006 French Open (falling to Svetlana Kuznetsova) and the 2007 Australian Open (falling to Serena Williams). The Czech stopped playing in March 2010.

Next up for Vaidisova is the winner of No.3 seed British Johanna Konta and American Julia Cohen.
